Currently sat in bed recovering from 5 jam packed days in Italy and a 7am work start yesterday. Running from one side of the airport to the other to catch the last train to go home is definitely not okay when you have minutes to spare and it definitely doesn't help either when you haven't been to the gym in over a month. That being said I've finally finished work and have a week to get back into shape and get my life together before I head back to uni.

It has now become a ritual to go on holiday with my sister once every few years and this time our pick was Milan, mainly to see Lake Como and what it had to offer. So the first of three posts is dedicated to Como, definitely a a place to go to on a day trip or perhaps an overnight stay if you plan to see the more northern parts of the lakes.

Top things to do
1. Explore the streets
There are maps situated from place to place so don't worry about getting lost, we managed to direct ourselves from A to B and they even recommend famous monuments to visit. The town offers everything you could ask for; Maccies, local supermarkets, fresh fruit market stalls, a small department store and more! We were lucky enough to listen to some beautiful live music as we sat by the fountain watching the sun set over the mountains.

2. Eat gelato
We treated ourselves to some grapefruit and passionfruit gelato, by far the best combination of the trip. Needless to say it disappeared before I could even blink!

3. Ride the funicular to Brunate
At 5.50 euros, you can ride the funicular to Brunate, where you can see an incredible view overlooking the town and the Alps. We spent a good few hours walking around the small side streets admiring the fresh smell of homemade spaghetti bolognese sauce that seemed to lurk from house to house.
